Haworth

The world of Wuthering Heights is brought to life in the famous village of Haworth. This picturesque village was once home to the literary greats the Brontës and their home is now the Brontë Parsonage Museum. There are lots of things to do in Haworth. Why not join a guided walk and learn more about the Brontës? There’s also the self-guided Haworth village trail or follow the Top Withens walk to see the landscapes that inspired the Brontë’s work. Throughout the year there are also lots of events in Haworth, including the popular 1940s Weekend, 1960s Weekend and Victorian Christmas events during the run-up to Christmas.

Brontë Parsonage

IMG_4581The Brontes are the world’s most famous literary family and Haworth Parsonage was their home from 1820 to 1861. Charlotte, Emily and Anne Bronte were the authors of some of the best loved books in the English language.

The beautifully preserved museum has been opening its doors to visitors for over 75 years. Set between the unique village of Haworth, and the wild moorland beyond, this homely Georgian house still retains the atmosphere of the Brontes’ time. The rooms they once used are filled with their furniture, clothes and personal possessions and displays are changed annually, so you can always be sure of seeing something new.

Haworth Walks

Follow in the footsteps of the Brontës and disover the dramatic landscapes that inspired their work. Walk from the village to Haworth Moor and follow the Brontë Connections Walk. Other Haworth walks include the Penistone Hill Heritage Trail and the Sladen Valley and Lower Laithe and Ponden Reservoir walks which also passes through Stanbury.

Haworth Shopping

From the delights of Haworth Main Street’s independent shops to the high street names in Keighley’s Airedale Shopping Centre, there’s something for all those who like to shop. Haworth shops offer everything from gifts, to vintage clothes to fresh local produce. Stop off in one of the cafes or pubs to rest tired feet for a drink, coffee or lunch. Make sure you don’t miss the regular craft fairs and vintage fairs in Haworth. There’s also a popular market in Keighley and a Christmas Market in Haworth as part of the Christmas Festival.

There’s lots of restaurants in Haworth or for a pub lunch try a pub on Haworth’s Main Street. Coffee and yummy treats can be enjoyed at Haworth cafes.
